Nanotechnology Improves Water-Based Coatings
Nanomaterials under magnificationNanophase Technologies has developed new nanoengineered dispersions that can increase the scratch resistance and gloss retention of water-based systems to be equal to solvent-based organic systems. The new nanoengineered dispersions enable an applied coating to resist scratching and marring and retain high gloss by up to 80% after rigorous industry testing.

ACCESSA to Move to New Headquarters
ACCESSA Coatings Solutions is expanding by relocating its corporate headquarters and Indianapolis, IN, branch operations. The expansion takes ACCESSA from approximately 8,000 sq.ft. on Indianapolis’ northwest side, to 27,000 sq. ft. on the east side of downtown.

Aircraft Prize Refinished with ANAC Coatings
Refurbished 1977 Cessa Cardinal 177BA 1977 Cessna Cardinal 177B aircraft, being given away by the world's largest pilots association, U.S.-based Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), in its annual sweepstakes, has been refurbished with coatings donated by ANAC (Akzo Nobel Aerospace Coatings) through its distributor network.

SUR/FIN 2007 Reports Rise in International Participation
SUR/FIN 2007, held this past summer in Cleveland, Ohio, saw non-vendor attendance increase 9% year over year and booth spaces reserved rise by 30%. Figures supplied by the National Association for Surface Finishing (NASF), which manages the show, indicate that 162 international participants representing 26 countries made the trek to Cleveland for the show.

United States Aluminum of Waxahachie, TX, has been accredited to participate in the PPG Certified Applicator Program (PPG/CAP). As the newest member of PPG/CAP, United States Aluminum joins a group of commercial coating applicators certified by PPG to apply high-performance fluoropolymer coatings to aluminum architectural components.

Columbia Chemical new hiresThree new professionals have joined the technical support staff of Columbia Chemical, a supplier of zinc plating additives. Technical Service Representatives Adam Anderson and Evan Kamenik will provide technical assistance and sales support to domestic and foreign customers, while Quality Control Technician Corey Malone will analyze and maintain quality standards on raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods. All three report to Technical Service Manager Jeff Grodecki.

The Global Group of Companies has hired Spencer James as vice president, effective November 19, 2007.
