Plasma Coating Technology Holds Promise for Medical Field
AeonClad Coatings, LLC has obtained an exclusive license from The University of Texas at Arlington for a plasma coating technology for medical and industrial applications. The advanced plasma deposition technology is a new method for coating nanoparticles and devices, with the ability to custom-design the molecular surface to suit the environment in which it will be used.

Akzo Nobel’s Powder Coatings business has officially opened its first production plant in Russia on a site that offers ample capacity for future expansion. R-M and Hyundai Motor Co. have agreed on a close global partnership for the automotive refinish product business. The goal of the cooperation is to develop coordinated refinish products, as well as training concepts and additional support for the carmaker’s customer service.

Rohm and Haas Co. has finalized the sale of its European Automotive Coatings business, including its manufacturing site in Strullendorf, Germany, to the Mader Group. The company also has signed a definitive agreement to sell its UCD Colorants business to NB Coatings, Inc.

Grace Acquires Assets of Grupo Sistiaga S.L.
W. R. Grace & Co. has acquired certain assets of Grupo Sistiaga S.L., located in Hernani, Spain. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Sistiaga is a supplier of coatings for aluminum containers.
