BASF and DaimlerChrysler Develop “Liquid Metal” Paint
Liquid Metal, a new paint
developed through a joint effort by DaimlerChrysler and BASF Coatings, is designed to gleam like liquid metal. The coating is based on the successful integration of a special-effect pigment into a waterborne paint system, which makes the technology environmentally friendly and compliant with all environmental regulations.

NCCA Offers Online Prepaint Assistance
The National Coil Coating Association (NCCA) has developed an enhanced online "Search For A Supplier" function on its website that makes it easier for manufacturers to find information and get advice about using and converting to prepainted metal. The database includes detailed information and capabilities for coil coaters, service centers, metal producers, paint vendors material and equipment suppliers, brokers and miscellaneous professional services related to prepainted materials.

Nova Finishing Systems Inc. has introduced a revised Nova-Hutson DF-14 dry disc finisher. The unit has a closed-loop dust collection system with a cover/lid and vacuum provisions for cleaner dry media operations and maintenance. 
Wheelabrator recently designed and manufactured an automated airblast etching system for pressure plate manufacturing. The process required a suitable “etched” finish to be imparted on one or both sides prior to introducing the pressure plate to a bonding process. Consistency and repeatability of finish were
critical in this high-production process.
