Hosted by the ASM Thermal Spray Society (TSS), this symposium will feature invited presentations by members of the aerospace supply chain, including the airlines, engine manufacturers, applicators of thermal spray coatings, materials and equipment suppliers, and research organizations. Two tracks are scheduled to address specific interests:
A scientific/engineering focus will cover new technology trends, existing and future coating application requirements, and a technical discussion on case studies and applications (including wear, oxidation, hot corrosion, heat barriers, general wear, and part restoration)
A focus geared to applicators, technicians, quality, EH&S personnel, and process engineers will cover environmental health, safety issues, testing and characterization, quality and process improvements, pre- and post-processing, and metallography.
On October 13-14, TSS will sponsor a two-day educational short course on Materials and Processes for High Temperature Gas Turbine Components. Dr. Donald Boone, President of BWD Turbines, Ltd., will cover thermal spray and other highly important surface modification processes that are critical to the aerospace industry.
The symposium will be held at the Sheraton Hotel at Bradley International Airport, near Hartford, CT.
