General Metal Finishing has purchased its third Controlled Atmosphere Separation Technology (CAST) system from ThermoEnergy Corp.’s subsidiary, CASTion Corp., to recover metals from wastewater. General Metal Finishing is a leader in military, aerospace, medical, telecommunications, automotive and commercial electronics metal finishing and plating.

General Metal Finishing will be using the CAST 4000 system for the recovery of electroless nickel from its nickel-plating wastewater and will be recycling the recovered nickel. The company bought its first CAST metal recovery system 20 years ago to recover silver cyanide, and its second CAST system in 2000 for its zero liquid discharge (ZLD) system. (CASTion's ZLD system will be featured in an upcoming Sustainable Planet program to be aired on the Discovery Channel.)

For more information about the CAST system, visit www.castion.com.
